The Adacolumn is a single use direct blood
perfusion type apheresis column. Blood can
be drawn into the column from the antecubital
vein of one hand and returned to the patient
via antecubital vein of the contralateral hand,
without using a shunt. The commonly used apheresis
time has been 60 minutes at 30ml per minute.
This is a moderate procedure with minimum burden
on patients. The apheresis requires anticoagulant,
heparin or nafamostat mesilate.
