The Adacolumn is a new adsorptive type extracorporeal
apheresis column, developed for selective adsorption
of granulocytes monocytes/macrophages. The
figure
shows blood cell adsorption efficiency of Adacolumn
carriers for patients with UC (n=56) and patients
with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (n=153) respectively.
Each efficiency was calculated using the equation:
adsorption efficiency (%) = number of adsorbed
cells ÷ integrated cell count at the
column inflow x 100. The results indicate that
Adacolumn carriers are fairly selective for
adsorption of granulocytes and monocytes/macrophages.
